History

The Sabatini name has a long, rich established reputation and tradition of elegance and history since 1846. The name has been synonymous with well-refined, custom-made designer clothing for men and women, and was one of the first custom tailoring shops originating on London's famous and exclusive Savile Row. Sabatini's list of clients has catered to the old European tradition notables, as well as the more contemporary of the affluent executives, diplomats, and celebrities.

Eza Sabatini, the last in line of Sabatini's, brought the art of fine custom suit making to the Washington, D.C. area in 1973. Sabatini holds the rare position of being both master tailor and designer and has the advantage of learning the art of fine tailoring through generations of Sabatini European master tailors. He is known for his kind and friendly manner, his impressive list of clients and for his ability to make a traditional superbly fitting custom made suit - no matter what your size. His designs are classic, his tailoring - impeccable.

You can make an appointment to have a professional consultation with Mr. Sabatini. Sabatini draws on his knowledge and expertise to assist you as you choose your custom suit fabric and style selections and have your measurements taken in privacy.

The Sabatini family has served the Royal Family of England since 1846. Other clients include Prince Alexander and his lovely wife, Patricia H. Wilder, a star on Bob Hope's radio show.

Princess Grace of Monaco was also a client of the Sabatini's - young Mr. Sabatini was so inspired by her inner and outer beauty that he made her an exquisite breathtaking gown made of plum colored silk which took over 50 hours of handwork. You can see a photo of the gown now hanging on the wall of Sabatini's showroom alongside other photos, including a mysteriously smiling Cary Grant and Jimmy Stewart wearing matching fabric and style suits by Sabatini. Sabatini also has in his collection, a precious photo of President John F. Kennedy, made during one of his visits to Sabatini's tailoring shops in England.

Sabatini's showroom is evidence of more varied and distinguished clients that he has served since opening his tailor shop in Washington, D.C. - several U.S. Presidents, including Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan, former Speaker of the House, Jim Wright, Senator Proxmire and other members of Congress, Oliver North, and a number of Ambassadors. Over the years, many celebrities have found their way to Sabatini, including Muhammad Ali, who became a close friend, Sophia Loren, and David Letterman. Diana, the Princess of Wales, is photographed wearing a Sabatini tuxedo suit, and, most recently, John Ritter and Henry Winkler were delighted with their Sabatini custom made suits.
